Favre Watch

How's your team doing? Who's surprising you this season for better or worse? What's the biggest news in sports today?

yeah I remember those 6 INT playoff games, but I also remember him heaving a ball across his body to the back of the end zone to Sterling Sharpe for a victory in the Silverdome in the playoffs. I remember his Monday Night game in Oakland after his dad passed away. I mean sure he had some brutal playoff losses, but he still has a +.500 winning percentage in the playoffs, better than Peyton Manning's 9-9 record. Of course you can bring up Brady's playoff record, but he did have the benefit of a camerman spying out the other team's defensive signals.......
You can also bitch about the Pats defense, but since 2003 their unit has been in the top ten in Yards Allowed Per Game every year except one. So you listed 3 players that you thought had bad years for a defense ranked in the top 10, I bet the other top 10 defenses had a few holes as well, but they were still top 10 defenses.

Speaking on the issue of hate again, I can also understand why people hate Belichick and the Pats, they were cheating. People can get pretty passionate about cheating.

RO: i still don't get how that gets you so passionate on the subject, you really care that much that other people idolize him?

In 2003, it wasn't against the rules. The Memo was not sent out until 2006 so I don't get your beef there.

Dude the 2008 defense was abismal. Colvin, Seau, Woods, Delta O Neal, Ellis Hobbs, Mike Wright were all defensive starters by the end of the year, pathetic. The team was carried by Cassel and Welker in 2008.

uh, i just dropped into this topic, and i can honestly say that having a cameraman spy on the other team sounds shady as f#$^@ and whoever does that is pretty gay. I don't care if it is against the rules or not, and whoever says "it wasn't aganist the rules AT THE TIME" needs to wake up.

It's not against the rules to steal pitch signals either, but you'll get your ass kicked for doing it, but tell me who likes you for doing it (besides the hitters on your team.)

Seeing as how much you are complaining about the the Pats defense in '08 I decided to look up their 2008 schedule and see the final scores.

Lowest to highest for all 16 games.

0, 7, 7, 10, 10, 10, 16, 18, 21, 21, 26, 28, 30, 33, 34, 38

Here's a couple games that stick out to me:
38-13 loss (Matt Cassel throws 1 interception and loses 1 fumble, 1 Touchdown)
30-10 loss (Matt Cassel throws 1 interception and loses 1 fumble. 0 Touchdowns)
34-31 loss (I'm just tossing this one in because it was to Favre & the jets.)
33-10 loss (Matt Cassel throws 2 interceptions and loses 2 fumbles. 0 Touchdowns)

Seems to me, all your big losses weren't helped by your top 7 quarterback, Matt Cassel.

Cassel hadn't developed a feel for the game speed until the game against the Colts (the guy had not started since high school.) From then on besides the rainy Pittsburgh game, he played at a pro-bowl level.

The Jets loss you posted, Cassel threw for 3 Touchdowns, 0 Interceptions, passed for 400 yards and rushed for 62 you fucking moron.

All the other games are from the very start of the season when Cassel struggled, and so did the Patriots.

In week 2, Cassels first start. Cassel managed the team and won the game, and Brett Favre threw a crushing interception at the end of the game to lose it.

In the 2nd game, Cassel's defense let him down and he had to have an epic drive at the end of the game to send it into overtime. In overtime, the Jets won the coin toss and the Patriots defense blew it.

Oh, so what you're saying is, Favre didn't choke in the second game?

No i would just say that the shitty overtime rule in NFL won that game. Terrible rule. Farve does choke and you must not watch the post season much to not see that.

Nope, I don't blame it on the over time rule. I blame it on the defense for not knowing how to tackle that led to a 3rd and 15 first down which never should have been converted.

I'm picking favre as my #1 pick. Sure he wont be playing when I pick him, but by the time the season starts, he'll be there. And I'll take those 400 yards and 3 TDs to go along with his 2-3 interceptions a game. :)

If the word that Favre is retring is true, then I want Fiya to admit how wrong he is if the Vikings don't get to the NFC Championship this year without him. The year before Favre got there, the Vikings didn't make it to the NFC Championship and I don't think the Vikings will without Favre this year.

Fiya you've repeatedly said you would rather have Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels over Favre, let's see if you were right or not this season.

By the way Tom Brady is a bitch and fuck Bill Belichick.
