DJ Shadow - Endtroducing - best dj album ever. In guinness as the first album to be created entirely with samples.
Nas - Illmatic - A straight classic hip hop album. Cleverly written lyrics and great production all the way through.
Metallica - And Justice For All.... - This is really a matter of take your pick since almost all of the great metallica albums are great all the way through. Justice just happens to be my favorite (frayed ends of sanity! hear them calling me!@#!)
Incubus - Science - Fucking amazing industrial/funk/metal. Goes from ruthless to beautiful in the span of a heart beat.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood/Sugar/Sex/Magic - perfect driving music.
Sublime - 40 ounces to Freedom - Every day I love it just a little bit more...
The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers - Really it's an "insert album name here" but this is usually my choice.
Jay Z - The Blueprint - yeah I said it. This album is fucking hot yo. The production is what does it for me.
Weezer - The Blue Album - The height of nerd rock. This was my theme music.
The Clash - London Calling - Clever and raw. Great, if kinda light, punk rock.
Elvis Costello - This Years Model - So clever and brilliantly orchestrated. I've been listening to this album for a long long time and still hearing things that I never heard before.
The Old 97's - Too Far to Care - Slyly written country punk. I want to say clever again, but I didn't cause I just said it twice in a row. Oh, I did say it again.
Johnny Cash - American Recordings - greatest country music of all time.
The Impossibles - Anthology - a perfect mix of classic ska, nerd rock, and teen angst. Best live shows EVER! And very clever...
The Fugees - The Score - brilliantly crafted laid back hip hop album.
There are quite a few more, but most are underground albums so I'll save that for my next post. Please share your comments and favorite albums you can listen to all the way through!
