Spark Guide Applications (continue to be) Now Open
Expressions of interest are once again being sought for positions on the Spark Leadership Team, specifically the position of Guide. Download the attached zip, fill out the application form, read through the included breakdown of what to expect once your application has been submitted, and cross your fingers.
If you are successful, you will join a queue of people able to be appointed as Guides by the Lead Admins as required. This queue will be dealt with in a First In First Out basis.
Something to bear in mind before you decide whether to apply for a Guide position is that too many people feel that the attainment of the badge is an end in itself. On the contrary, whilst it's perhaps an acknowledgement of your achievements to date (or perhaps your potential), it's moreover the beginning of a job and often a thankless one at that (you'll need to be thick-skinned). Becoming a Guide should empower you to help make Spark a better place for everyone to play, and help give you the connections to act on the visions you've had to improve it. Whether it's helping to run leagues and tourneys, answering questions on the support site, or even just monitoring the public chat lobby to help ensure it's a place a newcomer might want to come back to (and tell her friends about), there's a lot you can do (even if you don't think you have the skills to contribute to coding, web design etc). Whilst activity is obviously a plus, the days of the Spark Guide who only plays Spark, acts like they're "part of the problem" and helps no-one is coming to an end.
You may or may not be a great player. You may or may not have been around Spark (and ARC before it) for a while. But if you want to help make Spark somewhere people want to play, and you want to help make Spark a game you're proud to tell your friends about in these days of 3D shooters with high-end graphics, then we want to help you to help Spark.
Be more. Enlis- er... apply today.
PS: Please ensure you include in your information your Spark name, otherwise we might just give Guide status to the wrong person, and we wouldn't want that, would we?
