Fellow Spark Users: Welcome to Spark!
As you have noticed there have been some major changes for Spark over the past month. Let me begin by mentioning that near the end of July 2009, Remote decided that he would part ways with ownership and development of Spark. I (Dave) have had the opportunity to work with Remote, and for over three years, Remote has been truly resourceful. From commanding and developing the best servers on later ARC, to developing Spark in the shadows, to saving this community from another period of downtime--his work and effort to produce Spark and to get it to where it is, is now being enjoyed and shared by all. Thanks Remote.
Moving on from this chapter in Spark's existence, Nas and RareOps have become the new owners of Spark. They have chosen to keep the current administrative staff, however, there will be organizational structure changes to reflect a (projected) more-active ownership group, and also, yes, a new Spark development team.
As we all know, game development has been slow over the past months, yet critical functions need to be developed and bugs need to be resolved. Well, I am happy to announce that we have setup a new Development Team that has already started work on these issues.
The Development Team currently consists of Gamer as the Development Lead. Associate developers include: Validir, DarkDragon, and Odoacer. At this point, development has been focused on getting Spark back to normal operational status after discovering some issues with the unreleased version which was initially supplied. Other necessary functions and commands are also being worked on for all users and the administrative team.
CrazyMofo, Nas, Halow, and Patabugen are currently developing this new website. By the time of website release, please be advised that you may run into bugs. We will be using a new content management system and so all of our content, including the forums, have been transferred over. Please let us know if you run into any problems.
I hope this announcement appropriately answers some of your questions and concerns. I am expecting the Spark Staff to accomplish even greater things with more access and control now. But for that to happen we need your help and your innovative ideas. Let's try to revive those good suggestions or brainstorm new ones, because the Spark Machine is back and rolling!
Thank you everyone for your commitment to this game and community. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make the necessary steps to get Spark where we all want it to be: a sustainable game and community, thriving with users and energy, led and developed according to our imaginations.
